About
Springhead makes an excellent venue for a weekend country wedding.
Unlike most hotels, the 18th century Grade II listed mill is exclusively yours to enjoy. It is situated at the head of the lake and although the building is on two levels both are directly accessible from the gardens.
The Upper Floor Mill Room – With windows overlooking the lake, the Mill Room has ample space for you to sit 50 guests for your reception. We give it to you as a blank canvas for you to impose your own wedding dreams on the space. Lounge – The room most chosen by couples for their ceremony with polished teak floor and room to sit 50 guests. Doors open on both the Mill Room and patio where you may choose to greet your guests.
Bridal Room – Situated adjacent to the Mill Room, this room is a twin bedded, disabled accessible en-suite bedroom. This is often used as a dressing room by brides prior to the ceremony.
The Ground Floor Breakfast Room – A further function room on the ground floor, adjacent to the kitchen which is used for dancing. Kitchen – Fully equipped for groups of up to 50 people. For catering purposes there is a large commercial six hot plate electric fan oven/cooker, boiling water on tap, two domestic dishwashers, microwave and a large commercial refrigerator. Space is also available in our deep freezers.
We provide cutlery, a set of white crockery, serving dishes, saucepans and a range of kitchen utensils. It is recommended that you hire your glasses and table linen. You may either self-cater or hire a caterer of your choice. Toilets Toilet facilities can be found on the ground floor.
Marquee Option Space for a reception for 100 guests in a marquee on the lake-side lawn is available. This option to be arranged separately. Gardens Springhead’s ‘piece de resistance’ is its spectacular gardens which are listed in the book ‘1001 Gardens You Must See Before You Die’ by Rae Spencer-Jones.
The gardens provide many enchanting areas for those special once-in-a-lifetime photographs, including a delightful wooden bridge over seven springs (believed to be extremely lucky in ancient times), an antique Italian Rotunda and grass amphitheatre. The Rotunda, is an ornate structure of stone and decorative iron-work, brought back from Venice more than 40 years ago. A familiar and well-loved feature of the ornamental gardens, the Rotunda is licensed as a wedding ceremony venue.
